Dr. Kent Vincent is originally from Pleasant Valley, Iowa. He graduated #1 in his field of Biology with a B.S. from Iowa State University (’80).  After medical school at the University of Iowa (’84), Dr Vincent completed an internship in general surgery followed by residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of California, Davis (’89).  Dr. Vincent finished his formal training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Los Angeles (’90). 

Dr. Vincent then practiced in Portland, Oregon as a staff pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Shriner’s Hospital and as an assistant professor of orthopedics at Oregon Health Sciences University for 11 years.   In 1996, he completed a fellowship in the Illizarov technique of limb deformity correction in Lecco, Italy.

Children’s Orthopedic Specialists welcomed Dr. Vincent to Tucson in 2001.  Dr. Vincent has had a positive impact on the level of pediatric orthopedic care in our community and beyond. His philosophy of care is centered on the child and family.

Dr. Vincent is comfortable with all aspects of pediatric orthopedic care.  As well as fracture care and general orthopedics, his special interest areas include neuromuscular shoulder and brachial plexus injuries, management of limb-length discrepancies and spinal deformity & scoliosis.  He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, four book chapters, and made frequent national and regional scientific presentations.   

Dr. Vincent is the only pediatric orthopedic surgeon in Arizona personally trained by Dr Ponseti himself in the Ponseti method of clubfoot treatment.

Dr. Vincent has helped train medical students, pediatric and orthopedic residents and fellows, in an exchange program from New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Turkey, Israel, Austria, Canada and Armenia.  He continues to remain very active in all aspects of medical education and works with residents from the University of Arizona orthopedic and pediatrics departments. 

Dr. Vincent is an active member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC).  

Outside interests include spending time with his family, gardening, photography, and hiking/camping.
